Measurement method
Fill the test tube with water to 5ml
Pour one drop at a time (and count them) from the liquid into the water until it changes from red to green. Once the water turns green, stop pouring drops of liquid.
Each drop is equal to 10ppm (1ºf in French degrees)
 
 Therefore, if the water has 
 0 - 50 ppm - soft 
 51 - 100 ppm - a little hard 
 101 - 300 ppm - hard 
 301 - 500 ppm - very hard 
 501+ ppm - too hard
